maybe unpopular opinion, but parents need to stop using the same tactics everyone else does on their kids to teach and help them? kids are people too, and like with most people, certain things hinder them, rather than improve anything.

for example, “time out” and being locked in my room didn’t help me at all? instead of reflecting or understanding i did something wrong, i’d panic and scream and upset myself to the point of getting sick at the thought of being cut off from everyone else against my will. if anything, it made me lash out and act worst, or potentially hurt myself in distress.

work with your kids and find out what’s going on, why they’re acting a certain way, and go from there. don’t assume you can read your local parenting and discipline book and you’re good, it’s time to start treating children like individual people.
